No m&m's for Jesus

Ever since my trip to New York I can't get something out of my mind.  I'm finally writing it down.  The kids begged us to go to M&M World in Times Square.  This is usually not our favorite thing to do--so commercial, way over-priced...but kids are suckers for that type of stuff.  Anyway, we go there and end up having a decent time (WAY stale candy, though) since the kids thought it was so cool, but that's beside the point.  There is this section of special mix m&m's like you see below.

In addition to all the colors they have special holiday mixes.  So, I start reading all the different combinations they've put together--for example--black and orange for Halloween, green and white for St. Patrick's Day.  Seriously, nearly every holiday was represented.  They had: Halloween, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick's, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, Valentines, Mardi Gras, Easter, and a few others--I think I counted ten.  But of course, what small dinky holiday did they fail to represent?  You know it!  Christmas.  Is that unbelievable or what?  I really have been so bugged by this ever since.  The whole "Happy Holidays" thing last Christmas drove me crazy too.  My kids came home from school in December for "Winter Break" and when I called it "Christmas Break" they actually CORRECTED me.  They didn't make that mistake twice.
I think it's completely pathetic that companies, schools, and people in general are caving into this mentality.  Christmas is becoming a taboo word and subject.  Oh, no 4th of July m&m's either BTW.  So messed up.

Are you seeing the same thing?
Do you get bugged too?

Yeah that pisses me right off. I cannot believe that. What they need to realize is that they are a bunch of pansies afraid of a few *&^%$#@ people. i won't say the word. I might be making a call to the M&M factory like I did to your friends at Lucketts.

and that *&^%$#@ is not a swear word.

I am right there with ya! What is up with the "Happy Holidays" thing? Although, I have been taught that people say that to include not only Christmas but Hannakuh (Hoped I spelled that right). However, why can't we celebrate all holidays and religion? One thought I did have is that they do have holiday M&M's at Christmas time that everyone can purchase for regular price. I bet that buying Christmas M&M's fairly cheap rather than $6.99 a lb kind of goes more into the feel of Christmas. I don't know, just a thought!

That's retarded times 80. I'm sure it will be getting a lot worse here pretty soon too. Especially if that Obama character is elected. Bah humbug!

Suzanne--it's nice you give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you're right--you do see them in packages. That's why I really should contact them. It was just so odd in February to have every single holiday but the two I mentioned. I'm going to investigate.

Maybe Jek could check M&M World in vegas and see if this is isolated to just NYC or a national tragedy.

I'll never forget when the City of Pittsburgh (where we were living at the time) renamed Christmas, "Sparkle Season."
