Take me to the river,
              drop me in the water...literally

The best laugh of the day happened midway.  Big Johnny's boat turned sideways through a rapid, and if you turn sideways on a rapid, you're gonna flip.  And flip they did--three kids and all!  It was half scary/half HILARIOUS watching  the struggle from downstream.  I am so bummed we didn't film it--Nick was seconds away from having the camera ready to film Nicholas in the kayak--but didn't make it in time.  They were drenched of course--with an hour still to go.  They all handled it well but poor little J had purple lips and teeth chattering and...

little guy was just plain ticked!  Georgie came into our boat and just kept saying, "that was just HORRIBLE the way I was stuck under the boat!"  We all giggled and giggled the whole way back.  Camille (who had been quite somber the entire day) perked right up after the spill and repeated at least ten times, "Johnny fall in da water (huge smile!) real funny!"

There are some really neat tunnels on the way there and back--we hold our breath as we go through.  Some of us can do it, and some of us can't.  We sang lots of camp songs as we paddled.

Just our luck, there was a pretty good breeze so the ride home was a little challenging, I thought big boy's mini muscles would give out, but he stayed tough.

All's well that ends well.

Why did I write three posts?
Blogger only allows me 5 pics at a time.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm looking at the pictures and realize all Johnny's kids have life jackets on backwards?!?! This sheds more light on the capsizing of the canoe.....

How funny! They look so cute! They seemed to come out of it, especially Kelley who's all smiles.
I love canoeing, call me for the next one, I'll drop the yard work and go.

Hey Jenn,
I think it is beautiful country you live in. Scott is not allowed to read you blog, or he will have us up and moving AGAIN. That wouldn't be to bad, would it? We both miss the wonderful color of green. Am I destined to live in a desert the rest of my life? Your kids are adorable!
Love and miss you! Sara

This is great encouragement for us to get out in the real outdoors. Something we always talk about but usually limit ourselves to hiking. Have you always been an outdoorsy person? Theoretically, camping sounds like fun, but I get a little scared off ...
