Mom's Camp

In an attempt to be a good mother, I had "Mom's Camp" last Saturday.  It was sort of a makeshift day of pretending like I was a fun mom.  We went to the primary activity with all the church kids at the temple, which was really nice.  Then off to Michaels to get a craft  because that's all they've been wanting to do.  I decided to get little canvases for everyone to paint.  It was a hit since they love painting. We set up shop in the new attic and painted away for a few hours.  Above, is my little masterpiece which, as you might imagine I am quite proud of since I posted it.  I think it will be cute in a ornate white frame and hung in my attic somewhere.  I took them to the Panda Kung Fu movie after the project, which was mostly enjoyable--Camille was saying "go home" from the first five minutes.  That was followed up with Maggie Moos and mix ins (Camille's bribe to be quiet). The day took a turn for the worse at bedtime and I ended up doing a bit of yelling (I'm not used to being a camp counselor and I was done) but all in all it was a good day.  Probably not your "typical" camp day, but fun nonetheless.

You did a great job on the family picture, but where are the rest of your children?

It's ironic when you go the extra mile with the mommy moments and it ends up with us having a melt down and either yelling or crying at the end. The thoughts of "they don't even appreciate what I tried, here..." I had a similar experience with Shaeler and the day ended with her saying that she hated me. Oh well, I think I get points for trying. Anyway, way to go Super Mom for giving your children the extra special memories. -Suzanne

Oh, my bad!! I thought the picture was of you and your husband and 1 son and your youngest daughter. I thought, well if she has favorites, it will probably hurt the other two?! ;). Or I thought maybe you didn't scoot back far enough to get everyone in.....yeah, I feel dumb right now. LOL! In my defense, family should include you and your husband, if not maybe reconsider relabeling your picture, "Siblings" or "children" or something...alright, I will shut up now!! I feel dumb!

Suzanne--you're so funny!! I was thinking--man does she think lots of the kids that are on my blog are mine too?? So..I was very curious to see how many you thought I had!

And...I thought the same exact thing about the family sticker. But thats all they had at the store. I do have to admit it bugs me---I will be on the lookout for a better one.

That was funny… Jennifer painting is great! However; it does look like the two oldest actually could be you and Nick, because they look so much like you guys/older. But when you said “are you serious ” to Suzanne, I was on your same page because I was thinking Suzanne thought you had 10 kids (from all of the nieces and nephews on your blog). Either way funny mix up. Maybe you should have more though??

P.S. I'm the one that should feel "dumb" for not seeing the obvious. The first two really DO look like me and Nick.

I knew exactly who it was. As if nick and nick aren't tons alike and you and nat aren't tons alike!

I LOVE the cute little picture of your home. It is beautiful, and what I imagine back east would be like. :) No wonder the pioneers cried when they saw the Utah desert....

What a fun mom you are, Jennifer! (makes me want to run out right now to buy and craft and go to a movie with the boys...). You are going to love Coldplay! We are seeing them next month too - woo hoo!
