Obsession

Do you ever have one of those days where literally all you can think about are treats?
I'm having one. What else would possess me to google dessert images in the middle of the day?

I've always wanted to make these. I just looked them up and found out that there's nothing to it. Pour cake batter into a cone, stand them in a baking dish and bake. I always imagined the cones would burn, so I thought they were complicated. Nope.

I saw these on a friends blog and thought they were darling! Nilla wafers and grasshopper cookies, plus some bright frosting. How crazy would kids be over these?

Homemade strawberry shortcake. Does it get any better? I like to make mine using the recipe on Bisquick it's easy and quick. I haven't made it even once this season. Something extra yummy, is to buy lemon curd from Trader Joe's and mix it in with the whipped cream. The lemony topping is wonderfully good!

Chocolate Peppermint Ice Cream Cake. I've looked at this several times on Epicurious and have never made it though I want to eat it so bad. Actually, I never make desserts. My poor family; I'm really very lazy that way. I don't know why I am so unmotivated to make good stuff. Probably because I have such little willpower when it comes to eating them nonstop til they're gone.

Mixed berry pie. This makes my mouth water. Tart pie with ice cream is one of my all time favorite desserts. I could eat this combo for every meal, truly. So what is the point of posting all of this you ask? Well...I am giving myself a challenge to make all of the above before the end of August. Every summer I feel like I totally miss out on good food because I am simply too darn complacent in the kitchen. It'll take a miracle, but I'm gonna try. Next up, summer salads!

Are you motivated in the kitchen?
Do you make desserts?

Honestly, good thing the treat fairy came a knocking. Sorry about the lack of homemade treats.... I just want to have a baby. Looks like you need to get baking. Do some at the beach!!

The desserts are always so much more fun to cook and also to eat!

What is wrong with you?! I'm trying to lose my baby weight here and you're putting up delicious pictures. I absolutely love to bake and I love trying new things. I just found the BEST recipe for Apple Dumplings that are sinful. Let me know if you're interested ;)

They all look really yummy!
I have never tried the peppermint cake, or the bisquick recipe.. Maybe I'll have to.
I will for sure have to do the little burgers for the kids next time we BBQ. That's so cute!

I was just telling a friend today, summer makes me not want to cook. I cook like 70% less than winter. I have no desire to turn on the oven, and so most of the summer it's grilled, or salads and etc..

I have made a few things, but for the most part, I've been lazy daisy. :)

DO i go in the kitchen? No
Do I bake desserts? NEVER!
however two weeks ago i made banana bread from scratch. jason was in complete shock especially when he foudn out they were from scratch. He had no idea you could make banana bread from scratch! Shows how much we know about baking.

In fact, most those things don't really do anything for me except they are pretty. Bring on the beef jerky

Jek--you're deficient in something.

I go in spurts. I'll have a week where I just want to bake everyday. I have a lot more fun baking than cooking, and I think it's more fun if the end product looks either very clever and cute, or stunningly beautiful. Have you ever read Pretty Party Cakes? It's my favorite cake book. If you haven't, maybe I'll post about it sometime and put up some pictures. Until then, I HAVE to make those hamburger cookies for Gracie!

mmmmmmm... i'm seriously salivating

and yes, there are some days where all i think about is sugar. my obsession this spring was 2 graham cracker halves with buttercream icing in between. stick them in a tupperware for a few hours and let them get soft... i would eat the entire box of graham crackers within 24 hours!

I just got on your blog again and I can't believe how much I've missed. I love this one though. Everything looks so yummy. I shouldn't look at this while I'm hungry. I love the hamburger cookie idea too. I love to make desserts. That is really my favorite to cook. I just don't do it too often, because dinner is a nessessity and dessert is a reward.
