So sadly, it's time to say good-bye to the beach. Last Saturday Nick and I went with Eric and his kids to Rehoboth. The night before I did my usual "should we really go?" Luckily I had a little peer pressure working on me because we had the best day. Also, it was Mitchell's birthday so we wanted a fun day for him. I don't know what the deal is, but I have never had such relaxing times as this past summer--just digging my feet in the sand staring out at the sea. I am a lazy beach goer--and do little more than sit and smile at the kids; it's very close to a perfect day for me. I love the outings that make you look and feel like you're a fun mutha, but require little effort. What a concept!
We had an awesome day with Eric. It was so great to just sit and talk and have the kids entertaining themselves. We're so lucky to be surrounded by some of our oldest friends. There's nothing like people that know the whole you--your history, what you were like before things got real and the kids came etc. It's incredible--with how transient life has become for many--that we have been fortunate enough to have such great friends and family planted close by. This is a very happy part of my life.
We ended at Funland, of course. Love that place. Ate at Five Guys--got the kids 1/4 lb. at the Candy Kitchen and got some pretty funny footage of Camille on the Freefall. The crazy thing is, she hated it last time so I don't know what possessed her to do it again. I guess a good mom would've reminded her.....

LOL!!
That video is HILARIOUS! She looks like she's being tortured! Classic --getting it on camera. My kids hated the ride similar to this at Lagoon.
This may be America's funniest home videos worthy! You never know.. big $$$ could come from it!
The pictures are beautiful as usual! Great post!
And let us hope that she has not been scarred for life and hates amusement park rides!! Geez mom, what were you thinking??? A HUGE J/K!
How awesome to have such fun activities near you! I adore your beach pictures. I have a couple of friends that are from California and go back for weeks during the summer to get to the beach. Through your pictures, it has become very obvious why they do. (Although, I do argue that the Atlantic is a lot prettier than the Pacific.) Looks like you guys had a great time! -Suzanne
PS, it is nice to see a video of you to see what you are like breathing and in motion. Makes you seem a little more real to me. And that just sounded really creepy. OK, I am leaving now! -Suzanne
Suzanne that was hilarious!
I totally know--I'm always wondering about voices and mannerisms with all the blogging folks, too.
so fun to see you "in action"
that beach trip sounds heavenly.. beaches in Washington are so not like that.. it's fun to go, but most of the time you're freezing!
It's always sad to say goodbye to summer. But events like this make it totally worth it.
I love the video. My kids went on this ride at our amusement park and although Elie looked like she was totally freaked out, she really loved it and wanted to go on this over and over again. And it's funny cause she was with Ann's daughter and she seemed to really like it-although her son didn't.
Hahaha. That video was awesome! I wish i was there with you guys. Lucky farts. Just be glad that you didn't walk outside this morning to a very cold rain and seeing snow on timp. Yeah, let's hope my depression doesn't take me drastic measures this horrible winter. BLAH!!!
How fun! Great pictures and poor little baby on that ride. Sounds like you guys had a fun day. I with Mitch wish I could have been there.
I wish we could have been there also. We did have lots of fun at the lake though and it was a perfect ending to a great but fast summer.
I am feeling quite melancholy about the end of summer. It must be because I sometimes mark my daughter's growth by the seasons. You can't help but think "this is the last summer Annie will be 2."
Really cute pictures. It's such a blessing when you can take so much joy in spending time with your children.
