BLOG WHO??
I am completely and utterly obsessed. Jayne called the other night and I picked up the phone in a semi-coma as I was IM-ing (new territory) adding friends and attempting phone coherence all at once. Sensing my disconnect, she asked "Are you being held hostage?" "Whaaaat?" I drooled. In the background I heard her husband Jon say, "She's on facebook." Being that they had caught me my first night on, I was pretty impressed he recognized my unresponsive trance through the phone, second hand. Not bad Jonny--do you live with someone like me?
I know I am being dramatic, but this is like a dream come true. I love nothing more than finding out what old friends are up to, seeing their faces again and reminiscing. If you know me, or think you might want to, please feel free to add me as your friend. I will not ignore you!
Nick said yesterday, "Where's the Christmas music and the candles? What's going on?"
FACEBOOK, hon. That's where it's at. Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Are you on FACEBOOK?
Do you LOVE it?

If only you would have listened to me two years ago. I've known this little bit of treasure for quite some time now. If only i was smart enough to buy some stock back then.....sighhhhhhh.
Glad you've gotten addicted. Don't worry, it eventually fades. It's just now fading for me. Ya got some good years ahead of ya!
So that's where you've been..
Is that where Jill is too??
I had a friend sign me up a month ago, and I admit, I have done nothing with it. I don't even have a profile picture yet.
While it's fun for me to find friends, and be nosy and read about there lives, and what they are up to... I hate how it's sort of like myspace and they have one liners all day like: " Ann is eating lunch". It just seems funny to me.
I myself prefer the blog, but some of my friends and family prefer facebook. Now, I will know where you are if your not blogging anymore.. He-He!
So that's where you have been? Well, well well! I am mixed on facebook. I am not one to be a social networker, I like my little bubble. I joined facebook to spy on YW, basically and it works. I have found people that I have not seen in years and then I have people "friending" me just so they have lots of friends. They never even talk to me. Wow, smells like high school all over again, ha ha! I am going to friend you now! Happy Facebook! -Suzanne
GIrls....S and A
Yes Jill and I have been OBSESSED! But you know with moving across the country--it's like you NEVER get to run into high school people, church people etc. So it has been way fun. I am still a huge blog fan though--so don't write me off! ; )
I am an addict. I find it is much better than smoking and as good to the ole self esteem as a glass of wine. It's good to be a Mormon and have lots of friends. Especially the "mysterious" ones... (you know what I mean Jen!!) I wonder if we will eventually need an "intervention..." I hope so!!!
I admit that I have a facebook account, but I don't use it to the full ability it has. I don't really know how to do anything with it. I'm slowly learning though-so give me alittle time.
I'm glad that you like it though. I have added quite afew old school friends and its great to keep in touch with some of my family.
Enjoy!
Jen--some of us eternal student-types have been on facebook since you had to be a student with a university email address to even set up a profile. Yes, those days did exist. It's funny to see people like my father-in-law on facebook now. How the world is changing!
But do you draw the line at former serious boyfs? Trust me, it'll come up and it's a little strange.
In the words of Kramer:
"OH, I'm out there Jerry! And LOVIN' EVERY MINUTE OF IT!"
I love it and i must admit, I do want my friend count really high!! The biggest high is when people request being your friend. I mainly do facebook to see pics of families.
Yeah you said it perfectly, you can tell you are addicted when you are in the zone you were in when I called. That was pretty freaking funny. I have to say I am not that addicted. It sort of drives me crazy in a way, and in another way I like it. I log in about once a week just to see what is going on. Maybe if I put more effort or added more friends, I would like it more. I just mainly log on to “accept” the friends that have added me, and then I play around for a bit. I would add more friends myself, but everytime I search for someone I can’t find them, so I quit.
Glad to see you and Jill and Jek for that matter are enjoying yourselves.
And Jill just moved up like 4 notches in my book because she quoted Seinfeld! That was awesome! -Suzanne
Isn't that why Facebook was invented...? to see former boyfriends and our replacements!! That is part of the addiction!!(sorry Nick) Fun fun!!!
Yeah....afraid I'm with Anj on that one! (sorry mom!) So far none have surfaced....time...give it time.....
Well, except for RH--do you count him?! ; )
Spoke too soon! YC just did!!
This is desperate housewives on the net. I'm with Jayne. I don't think I'd quite be obsessed with it, but check in once in a while out of curiosity.
j-mark,
You best not give up the blog in favor of facebook. They're two different mediums and I can dig 'em both. I just retired from regular blog posting myself and facebook doesn't fill that void. Take my advice on that. Now you can give some...
Speaking of old "boyfs" (did your reader coin that term? I love it! Is there a female version? "Girlf" doesn't sound right...). Speaking of old "boyfs" cropping up on facebook, is there some protocols published somewhere? Like rules of engagement or the like?
Here's 2 cases for y'all's consideration:
1. Female acquaintance from college whom I may or may not have "hooked up" with once in a nearby ski resort town. Out of the blue she sends me a message on facebook. Something like: "hey, remember me? where are you? what're you doing? I've been married 16 years. Just saying hey." No friend request. Just a message. What do I do? Send friend request? Respond with a message? Both? What is that about?
2. Male facebook friend has amongst his friends a young lady I was quite keen on some time back. To borrow from the All-American Rejects tune (a song I dig), I was like her "dirty little secret." I never told anyone about our rendezvous (not sure the plural of that word...rendezvouses?), and I'm certain she's got it locked in the vault. Prolly best to keep acting like I didn't go look her up amongst my friend's friends. Right?
Thoughts?
Dear Anonymous... I know who you are...You handsome man you!!! Very mysterious!! Thoughts? Do a friend request for girl #1. Keep it public and your "significant" other will not be mad. Friend request #2 as well. You are a friendly sort and noone would be surprised or even suspicious if you weren't friends with EVERYONE (and loved by everyone as well... we all love you!!)
RH was not a boyf. Poor guy was a boy toy. Although I am sure he would be shocked to be labeled as such. The whole beaslely house played basketball with the fella (not you Jill!! And I am sorry for that!!)
Anyway, good luck with your facebook confusion Mr. Anonymous. I wish you the best of luck and hope that I am one of your honored friends.... Got to get online... (o: JUST KIDDING!! I have to fill out insurance papers.. and we all know that takes a lifetime.
Merry Christmas kids!!!
Dear Mysterious Man,
I have to say I agree with Anj. I see nothing wrong with friending them both. I mean seriously, who are we kidding, it's those types we are the most curious about anyway. Heck, it's probably been decades --where's the harm in that! I'm sooo curious as to your TRUE identity. Who IS IT...that uses the word "prolly?"
STILL STUMPED!!
P.S. the blog's here to stay. you can breathe a huge sigh of relief now. HA! HA!
P.S. my bet on "dirty little secret" is ...M.C. (for the record)
j-mark (and anj),
Thanks for your thoughtful input. I gather from your repsonses that there is no written protocol documentation. Oh well. Maybe I'll write it up...
On sober reflection however, I might (just might) friend girl #1, but still can't feel good about friending the secret. Anyone watching my wall for recent friend additions might sherlock holmes something heretofore buried deep.
p.s. MC is no secret; that happened in front of God, man, and all the Swiss. And I'm working on the cojones to friend her up.
p.p.s. jocularity and frivolity aside, I enjoy this blog. Not poking fun either.
I am stumped!! That is one tight vault!! I wish it was me. I always wanted a little somethin' somethin'....LOL
I HEAR YA! I was talked into it myself and it's definitely been a blog detractor! But how fun to connect with old friends.
