Swiss Family Robinson,
sort of...

Nick and his brothers run an outdoor business and a few years ago they acquired this cool little island.  They have built some really neat structures on it--a rope bridge, a kitchen, rope swings, a low ropes course, tree climbs, a compost bathroom and a few fun treehouses.

They run all kinds of camp programs on the island, the most popular being, "Adventure Island." This is an awesome week long day program where kids get to do all sorts of exciting things. They canoe there, have pirate themed scavenger hunts, rapid swim and swing from the rope swing, learn team building on the ropes course, enjoy huge bonfires and fireflies and sleep under the stars, or if they're lucky--in one of the tree houses!

Last year Nicholas took part in a camp program called "Building Green." He and his group helped build the "pooper" (compost toilet) in the picture above.  It's a pretty cool concept but did not entice me!  I'd rather pick a tree I think.

We're looking forward to some fun family campouts this summer.  Wouldn't this be a blast with five or six families--all camping out on one island.  We might just have to make that happen....ANY TAKERS?

Count me, Kelley and George in. I am sure Johnny and James will attend but may have to be airlifted in. I think their days on the canoe are limited after Saturdays horrific episode.

Damn Johnny! that was a fast comment post! I'm worried about your blog stalking habit....
My wife included, she gave up a fun movie date WITH a back rub so she could update her blog. GOOD GRIEF what have we become.

AMAZING! I would love to do that kind of vacation with my family when the kids are older. It just seems like a more valuable experience than a trip to Disneyland or something like that.

Lucky!
