Day 1:  Williamsburg

Last Friday, twenty three of us boarded the Calleva Ski Bus and headed for Williamsburg.  Nick drove and the rest of us kicked back in the roomy green machine.  We had a great time on the bus (much to my surprise--I was very skeptical).  Sometimes I hate that I've become an adult--I way over-think things.  In college, or as a kid, this would have been the coolest thing ever.  As a mom, you think about every bad scenario that could come from traveling this way.  Needless to say, I totally enjoyed myself and believe it or not, everyone survived!

We had beautiful weather and had a wonderful day taking it slow enjoying all the beauty. Williamsburg really is a clean and picturesque place.  It is such a step back in time with all the workers dressed in period clothing and acting the part.  What a cool job that would be--you would learn so much.  I am so drawn to a simpler life.  Though it would probably kill me it was so hard back then.  I took a lot of pictures with my new camera, without knowing quite how to use it, but most turned out pretty well I think.

The gardens were unbelievable.  I came home so inspired (that's gone now) to do something with my yard.  Truly, I think Williamsburg comes very close to some of the gorgeous gardens I saw in England.  We got a few ideas for our community garden that's going in in my backyard.

I actually woke up Saturday morning feeling pretty sick but decided to be a big girl and carry on When Camille puked in her stroller, I knew it wasn't my imagination.  Luckily, she was only sick when barfing (3x total), otherwise she kept up with the others and had a great time.

Aunt Natalie treated all the girls to darling sun hats and the boys to hats, rifles, swords and shields (score!). She said they make for great picture props, and she was right!  Not to mention, the place came ALIVE for those boys once they started shooting everything and each other.  It is so fun to see kids using their imagination.  We had a fun lunch in a tavern then split into small groups for the rest of the afternoon. We hung out with Matt and Kolette mostly, which was a lot of fun.  It was really a great day!

What a fun trip! And those kids look so cute! We should definitely do something like this as a family.

What an awesome trip (other than the barfing)! I believe I went there when I was 13 and never really appreciated the history. Someday will have to make a trip back to the East Coast and relive and appriciate the history.

The barfing sounds almost as fun as our Di A Rhea trip to Disneyland. We spent a good amount of time in the bathrooms, nurses station, and gift shop where we bought new clothes for the boys when they were really little. I still get tired thinking of it. Your's sounds more fun....and Chief is better than Mickey cause he talks. :)

Elisa--our youth went to Palmyra last year on the bus. It was a LONG trip but since the busses were so nice I loved it. The kids...not so much. I'm sure it will be fun. Where are you going?
